Search for a Belgian company

By name, company number (CBE) or VAT number: the profile brings together the register identity, registered office, activity, latest filed annual accounts and the date of publications in the Belgian Gazette.

The company number

Every Belgian company receives a 10-digit company number when it registers with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (CBE/KBO). It starts with 0 or 1 and is often written in three blocks. A VAT-registered company's VAT number is the same number preceded by "BE". Establishment units (branches) have their own number, starting with a digit from 2 to 8.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find a company's company number?

Type its name in the search above: the profile shows its company number and VAT number. It also appears on its invoices, website and publications in the Belgian Gazette.

What is the difference between the company number and the VAT number?

It is the same 10-digit number. The VAT number is that number preceded by "BE", for a VAT-registered company. To check that a VAT number is active for intra-EU trade, use the European Commission's VIES service.

How do I check that a company number is valid?

A company number has 10 digits, and the last two are a check key: 97 minus the remainder of the first 8 digits divided by 97. A number that fails this rule has been mistyped.

Can I view a company's annual accounts for free?

Yes: the Central Balance Sheet Office of the National Bank of Belgium publishes them. The Idonis profile shows the key figures of the latest year, and the free account shows 2 years.

Why doesn't a business appear in the search?

The public search covers active companies (legal entities). Sole proprietorships, which are natural persons, are not included.

How often is the data updated?

The register is re-read daily, annual accounts at each new filing with the National Bank, and Belgian Gazette publications every working day.
